Save the Shade Fund

DEDICATE A TREE....

The Save the Shade Fund invites you to honor a friend or loved one through our tree dedication program. You can be proud of helping to protect the large stand of shade trees in Tompkins Square Park.

Tompkins Square Park has more than 400 trees, including three giant sycamores that date back to the 1830s and one of the densest stands of majestic American elms remaining in the city. The trees clean the air, cool the pathways, and soothe the senses. But they need a level of maintenance which, because of budget and staff cuts, the Parks Department cannot provide. The Save the Shade Fund of the East Village Parks Conservancy helps provide income to support the care of these trees for the life of the Park.

Tree Dedications

A Named Gift to the Save the Shade Fund lets you honor an individual, a cause or an event while you help Tompkins Square Park. The name of the honoree will be placed on a bronze plaque in the Park. We will send you a photograph and information about the tree, including a locator map. Your tree will be given a page in the Tree Dedication Book for which you may contribute information about the honoree. All gifts are tax-deductable.
