The Tree Lighting

2005

Hosted by
Tompkins Square Park Neighborhood Colition
East Village Parks Conservancy
Third Street Music School Settlement

The live evergreen tree was donated to Tompkins Square Park in remembrance of Glenn Barnett, an advocate for the park's restoration, and in celebration of the efforts by many East Village neighbors to maintain and improve the park for our community.

In lighting the tree each December, we celebrate our community's boundless potential for compassion and brotherhood. We remember, always, our friends whom we have lost to AIDS.

Refreshments: From Veselka Restaurant

We thank our neighbors whose generous gifts made this event possible. Their contributions also went toward a donation made, on behalf of our community, to help some of our neighbors who were in need this winter.
Our thanks to all who contributed:
Lou Ballinger & Family, Webster Hall
   East Village Books and Records
   Emigrant Savings Bank
   Odessa Restaurant
   Saifee Hardware
   Third Street Music School
